Pretty much impossible to reach anything over 1960 if you reload a new save as the calender date in the game entirely resets, however, your progress does not. I like the game overall but it's not the best.

After 8 Hours of gameplay the save is so corrupted that it only show all reactor block building in russian letters, and you can get only out with ESC of that window.

All the 'upgrades' apart from fuel don't appear to make a positive difference. The game is mostly just waiting to unlock new areas. There is no control other than purchasing additions or upgrades.
I wouldn't buy this game again.

Very very very slow paced (need 2h of playtime at max speed to unlock the first upgrade).
The economics is weird (the power plant in Kanto sells at half the price of the one in Shikoku).

Would be nice if someone invented a Power Station game where by different power sources were available (wind, nuclear, coal etc) and mixing the lot to get the correct power.
