I played the original series in college back in the 1990s. One of the best fantasy RPG trilogies ever created and it's unfortunate they did not make a remake of Shadows Over Riva.

The in-game content is good without being overpowered (not commenting on the special party as making my own party is one of my favorite aspects of great rpgs). Game soundtracks is something I'd never pay money for by itself and is something you are into
