In 3D mode, it's awesome to see what bishops, knights, etc, do to each other when capturing. But when it comes to seeing where the pieces are in relation to each other, & thus the best move to make, 2D mode is more advantageous.

It's still as slow as it was when I played it on my i386 PC in 1989. There is no reason it should still be so slow.
I'll give it a thumbs up when they have the option to speed up the battle animations.

Strong nostalgia value if you're of a certain age but DOSBox *REALLY* struggles to play this and its sequels. If you feel like having a hit of '80s/'90s videogame throwback dopamine it's fine but considering that it barely functions it's really overpriced
