thanks to a very helpful Dev, I have more bones and better chances at getting bones. I'm clicking my pup and have gotten the 1st upgrade. now working towards the 2nd. have more bones, both regular and smelly. lol
it's a fun game now that I understand it

Came back after summer vacation and found that all my bones are gone. The containers in game do not show anything.
Found out that the bones are now moved to steam inventory which needs to be accessed outside of the game from steam directly for whatevery
