If Helldivers 2 and Left for Dead would've a baby, it would be CAST. Big open spaces to complete different objectives, decent amount of classes, weapons and upgrades to choose from (although there are some way more powerful classes / weapons than others).

Good game that's simple and short -- probably most similar to helldivers 2 in how the missions work(pick a map, go do a primary objective w/ optional sides, extract).
Devs have been silent since launch basically, so it's doubtful that there will be futur

Beat the game in 8 hours with 2 friends, only got to level 55, never upgraded the van at all and the SMG backpack trivializes the game.
That being said, pre-SMG backpack or just playing without it makes this game one of the most fun due to its challenge.
