There currently isnt a story in the game and I think its better for it. Just climb whatever you want at your pace while unlocking more difficult and fun routes as you go.

With only a couple hours into this game, I find it truly amazing. The movement of your body as you climb is so realistic. No rag doll flopping around. The tutorials are excellent. I have just broke into intermediate climbing and love it. Definite 5 star

This is a fun game. I have been hoping for a rock climbing game like this. Even in it's current EA state is very playable and although there is a little bit of a learning curve to understand the gameplay, it works well once you do.
