My OG experiences are with oldschool 90s shmups (both of the classic and the bullet hell variety), and 2000s Flash/indie top-down twin-stick arena upgrade-fest shooters.

This game is all about careful positioning... But unfortunately the ship controls terribly, at least with a controller with analog sticks. Movement is only full speed or nothing and only in 8 directions, so as if you're using an old arcade style stick.
