This sucks - you cannot play it offline. Once I found this out after playing for a total of 45 minutes (or so) I asked for a refund.
The refund was refused because I was over some two week limit.

You can't log on to your playchess.com account from this version of Fritz. Only option is to log in and play as guest. It's really disappointing to have to install and run the playchess.com client to do that, considering the price tag for this game.
